From the color of the Puncheon Cask one might assume it is either aged in virgin oak or sherry puncheons but upon contacting the distillery was told the puncheons previously held rum and Kavalan had European oak puncheons in its early days. The 12 Year Puncheon Cask was fantastic full of tropical fruit, nuts, rum raisins, golden syrup, plums, honey, toffee, peaches, and spices.
