Nose: Warm rye bread or dusty Ryvita slices. Tannic black tea. Malt loaf. Sticky toffee pudding.
Palate: Rye bread spice, nutty, very malty.
Finish: The spice turns peppery with the nuttiness intensifying.
It's quite basic in terms of profile but that's not a bad thing. It offers a lot of punch neat and would hold its own in a cocktail. A few drops of water bring out the malt / toffee notes on the nose but oddly strips it out of the palate leaving more of the peppery heat. YMMV.
