Decent, but relatively uncomplocated malt. Nose is mostly peat, with some smoked fish, iodine, vanilla, something a bit floral and grassy, a smidge of baking cocoa. The palate is sweet, vanilla, toffee, walnuts, dried fruits, vegetal peat, some trailing iodine and pepper. The mouthfeel is exquisitely full and lucious. This is a good, well crafted whiskey, I just find the vanilla a bit overpowering. For me, it's like a peaty vanilla custard. I probably should have just gotten the 10 (or an Ardbeg).
