Glenglassaugh Sandend just won Whisky Advocate's Whisky of the Year by reproducing Bruichladdich's formula for the Classic Laddie and charging us all $10 more for it. In some places $20. Buy the Classic Laddie instead. Don't believe the hype

I feel like I should highlight despite what may seem a negative review, I gave it 3.5. There are worse things to be accused of than tasting like Bruichladdich. It’s just not priced accordingly and it’s unoriginal.
Glenglassaugh are in a strange place at the moment - they seem to be trying to reinvent themselves on the back of some truly average whiskies. When Billy Walker had control for a short while things looked up with some very promising expressions being issued, but since acquisition by Brown-Forman they have not done anything positive at all.
That's a good comparison. It's been a bit since I've had the Laddie, but I can see them being very similar.
