YEAR // 2023 NEAT NOSE - Incredible! Tobacco, Oak, and Leather engulfed with notes of a dark brown sugar and THICK maple syrup! The nose is both sweet and incredibly bold. PALATE - Everything on the nose comes through on the palate with each note singing louder than others with each and every sip. There’s also a surprise note of fig newton in the middle and towards the backend. The palate is honestly crazy. You’d think this would be overoaked being that it’s a 5 year Texas double-oaked bourbon, but it’s incredibly smooth, rich, and sweet. It’s one of the most unique double-oaked whiskeys I’ve tasted. Also, the MOUTHFEEL is thick and viscous! FINISH - I feel like I could have a good nights sleep and wake up still tasting this bourbon. BUY? - Look, it comes with a price but I really think it’s worth it. Luckily, my favorite liqour store had this on sale for $170 (still steep). BUY AGAIN? - Honestly, I’ll probably buy this every year if I can; I like it that much. I don’t know how good a whiskey has to be for me to rate it 5 stars, but I’ll just say that if this was around $80-$100, it would definetly be a 5-star for me.
