Campbeltown Loch Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Blended Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland

Some call it the poor man's Springbank, a blended malt of young, subpar or leftover casks. Well, let's find out! Citric, funky and youthful, the nose starts off with spiced oranges, mild pepper and whiffs of peat smoke. Engine oil, brine and raisins appear. The firm arrival is accompanied by marmalade, lemon drops and slightly earthy notes before it shifts towards baking spices, pears and melon. Lime, black tea and emerging peatiness carry over into the zesty, fresh and mildly dry finish. It is not more than the sum of its parts, but it gives me a Campbeltown fix.

@Slainte-Mhath A couple of bottles just sold at a local auction for the equivalent of €60. Would you say it is worth that much? If so I'll keep an eye on the next auction in case there are more.
@cascode I wasn't aware that Campbeltown Loch is much more expensive outside of Europe. Here, you can pick up a bottle for 40-45 €. 100 Euro is too much, I would rather take a bottle of Springbank 10 instead.
@Slainte-Mhath I've looked at this but for some reason it is wildly more expensive over here than in th UK and Europe - the equivalent of 100 Euro! I think the local retailers are banking on the word "Campbeltown" to make sales.
Additional information: Campbeltown Loch is a blended malt of Springbank (this includes Hazelburn & Longrow), Glengyle (Kilkerran) and Glen Scotia. Note that there is a lot of batch variation.
