I got the opportunity to buy this bottle at auction just a couple months ago, and I finally got around to trying it today. I've seen a lot of fantastic reviews for this, and as a turkey lover, I had to buy one when I got the chance. I've been a long-time lurker, and this is my first formal review, I figured would start contributing since this community has given me a lot of knowledge to support my most expensive hobby. So let's get into it!
Nose: Sweet cherries, orange peels, dark caramel (almost a salty caramel), vanilla, cinnamon, sugar cookie dough, orange cream soda, and alot of ethanol. This nose suggests the whiskey is VERY strong.
Palate: CINNAMON FOR DAYS, Sweet rich caramel, orange juice, cherry syrup, and a deep rich funky oak backbone. It's rich and smooth, not as strong as the nose suggests.
Finish: Butterscotch, maple syrup, melted gooey caramel, rich oak, cherries, and oak tannins that make this finish linger for days.
This is the best bourbon I own. Hands down. Yes, I paid close to $240 at auction for this, but it's worth it in my book. I think the deep oaky goodness is everything I am looking for in a classic, well aged bourbon, and this delivers! I really think this is the best bourbon I have, and I'll be cherishing this forever.
