After having a few duds at Bruichladdich's Feis Ile 2024 festival, i found a bar at the back end of the distillery, and there i found a nice unicorn: a 30yo, 1988 vintage from the "Rare cask series", this one is called the Untouchable.
Bottled at 46.2%abv, this is one of only 6000 bottles ever made. It was matured in Refill Bourbon barrels & Refill Squat Hogsheads.
On thd nose, it is very tropical. Pineapple, "Inca cola"; Cotton candy. Very appealing.
On the palate, i got sawdust, pineapple. It is quite astringent, tropical.
Aftertaste was all about sugar, cotton candy and Pineapple.
Overall, any "laddie" that doesn't taste like soap or shampoo is a good expression. This one is the case. A very tropical; caribbean profile, that made this one delicious. If i ever had this at a blind tasting, i would never guess this is a Bruichladdich. My score for it is 92 over a 100.
