A smooth caramel-toffee nose. I'm pleased that it is very similar to the black label, except no hints of ethanol. Some fresh apple. A deep pour with two cubes that have now melted. First taste isn't quite as expected. Noticeably "salty". Clearly conveys the essence of sweetness, but doesn't actually taste very sweet (compared to many bourbons). Maybe a little at the back of the palate only. Some vanilla extract. Very very smooth. Touch of oak. Interesting but not in love. Definitely well-made and pleasing. Will have to give it another shot neat. I have a feeling the flavor and texture will be more pronounced and nuanced than on this first taste. 2nd taste - neat this time. Definitely the way to go. Much more pronounced flavor. Banana and nutmeg. Quite good.
