Bowmore 1964 37 Year Fino Cask
Single Malt — Islay , Scotland

Who would pass up the opportunity to taste and review one of the top 5 whiskies of all time? The nose of this 1964 Bowmore is out of this world, almost ethereal, thriving with lychee, passion fruit and lilies. Pineapple, tobacco and some waxy notes emerge, this is almost too precious to drink. Silky, lush and more acidic than anticipated, the palate is a tropical fruit dream, flourishing with juicy oranges, guava and a subtle layer of soot. It begs for another sip as the sophisticated finish lingers. I'm not a Bowmore fanboy, but this dram is nectar of the gods!

@Slainte-Mhath it’s my least favorite Islay as well, but yeah—— the 60s Bowmore is nothing like what they have out today. A combination of cask and quality distillate
@PBMichiganWolverine I was reluctant to give my highest rating ever (95/100) to a Bowmore, which in my opinion is the least interesting distillery on Islay. However, I have to admit that these 1960s bottlings are on another level, they have nothing in common with todays releases of Bowmore.
@Slainte-Mhath this was an amazing pour! I’m not a fan of Bowmore either, but this blew me away
@PBMichiganWolverine Thanks for sharing this magnificent dram with me, it will be forever etched in my memory as well - great times with whisky friends!
Additional information: Matured for 37 years in a Macharnudo fino cask from Spain, and bottled as part of the 'Trilogy Series', this Bowmore currently ranks #2 of best whiskies of all time on Whiskybase with an average of 95.96 points.
