Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

[Re-Review 030416] - Strong and commanding nose comprising of mildly raspberry sweetness. There is a nice rich delivery of citrus orange that lends itself to this pure scotch. Continuing with soft honey with consecutive samplings. The finish exemplifies dry and woody red wine. However, there are other highland malts that have a little extra bite and richness. In the end I do believe this is highly recommendable if you would like to experience something above a 12 year old expression, if you have the means. P.S. I do think this is highly overpriced.

I received a Mac18 as an engagement gift from my future father in law last year...I ain't complaining! He was though, when he told me the price and I showed him how much he could have saved over at BQE liquor!
Had a sample of this and totally agree with you Davie and Pranay. Good, but way overpriced, especially the Dal18. Dalmore, Mac are two brands, in my opinion, that are trophy whiskies and hard to justify the value for the dollar. To each his own which makes the journey fun.
I'm finding better deals leaving Scotland, and going American (not a bourbon fan, but love rye), as well as Canadian (rye), and Indian (Amrut).
Much appreciated! This is a hobby I take quite seriously, and I'm always looking for the best deals on new drams to sample :D
Totally agree. Plays to collectors. Dalmore in particular reminds me a lot of Mortlach as well---good, but over priced and wooing collectors who will never open the bottle.
Silly, blatant and completely arbitrary overpricing is the only thing keeping me from bottlings other than the 12, an old favorite. Their business model makes no sense to me... and simply panders to whisky collectors, who will never open the bottles anyway. Absurd. (Rant rant rant... Great review by the way!)
