The highlight of the night. This whisky has been crowned South Africa’s Best Grain Whisky, and after tasting it, it’s easy to see why. Daniel Nel explained how the arid Klein Karoo climate accelerates maturation, creating an intensity of flavour that typically takes much longer to develop elsewhere. The nose is rich with dark, brooding notes and layers of spice. On the palate, it’s smoky and sweet—an incredible balance that delivers depth and smoothness in equal measure. This isn’t just a good grain whisky; it rivals some of the world’s top single malts. In fact, this is what the likes of Dalmore Cigar Malt wish they could have achieved.
