Old Pulteney Coastal Series: Pineau des Charentes
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

Pineau de Charentes is a tasty aperitif from the Cognac region of France. Its friendly, fruity character is there from the first sip, which seems quite sweet, even syrupy. Soon, though, a salty, savoury note is layered on, adding complexity. The finish is surprisingly peppery, even astringent. Yet these distinct notes combine in harmonious, rather than dissonant, ways.
