Russell's Reserve Private Barrel Selection

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Reviewed March 11, 2026 (edited March 12, 2026)
2.5
2.5 out of 5 stars
8 year CN-D, floor 4 Libbey, neat, rested 15 min Nose: cherry, floral, caramel, musty? Palate: oak, musty, sour/dry, baking spice, a little caramel Finish: baking spice, pepper, oak Overall: as much as it pains me to say… this bottle just isn’t very good. The nose wasn’t great and it didn’t get better as you drank it. I do enjoy picking up these bottles but the normal single barrel seems to be superior. Affordability Rating: 1 out of 5. This bottle was $80 I think! Better off going with a differernt store pick or the normal single barrel.

I keep buying the barrel picks, but I can't recall ever buying one that's better than the regular single barrel.
