Roseisle 12 Year Origami Kite 2 (2024 Special Release)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed
March 15, 2026 (edited March 20, 2026)
Nicknamed the 'death star', Roseisle is modern malt factory capable of producing any style of whisky, thus threatening smaller distilleries in the Diageo portfolio. Initially quite floral and biscuity, the nose leans towards orchard fruits, breakfast cereals and potato fritters. A bit odd, but not unpleasant. Orange zest, crisp apples and peppery spices lead the intense arrival, followed by honey, pears and resinous oak. It benefits from water. The slightly tropical finish sparkles with gooseberries, lime and marzipan. A good whisky - but far too expensive for what it is.

Additional comment: Compared to the inaugural release (2023), this bottling is a bit weaker on the nose, but convinces on the palate. Same score for both of them (85 points), and I wouldn't buy a full bottle at these prices. Even the 20 cl felt like a rip-off, but we are too curious to not give it a try.
