Behind the smoky curtain, it mostly resembles what I imagine the Scottish land to taste like: peat, earth, grass, flowers. We normally associate nature with visual cues, but this whisky brings the full experience of raw, authentic nature.

Matthias-I'm with you on that. My taste buds don't pick up all of the nuances that I read in the descriptions of others (but I try!). So the experience I get and enjoy is more to the time and place of when/where I'm enjoying the dram. And if I happen to be at home, having spent much time on islands in northern latitudes, it's easy for me to conjure up appropriate mental images as I enjoy a nice scotch.
Thanks Slaìnte (sorry I only read your comment just now, my activity feed is a bit crowded since recently). I'm not as trained in picking up notes as others on Distiller, so instead I try to capture the essence or character of the whisky.
I like your approach to review whiskies!
