Ponfeigh Westsylvania Rye
Rye — Pennsylvania, USA

Nose: Initially sweet and citric with orange peel, sweet herbs (mostly basil, fennel, and mint), and maple syrup. A mild white peppery rye spice and clove are deeper in.
Palate: Medium viscosity with a beautiful balance between sweet and spicy. Powdered sugar, basil, maple syrup, black pepper, clove, and orange zest quickly layer on top of each other. There's a little bit of dark mint chocolate and seasoned oak when agitating the sip.
Finish: Medium length with sweet maple syrup and mild oak tannins.
Summary: Using everything as local as possible, from grain to oak, this shows how different a PA Rye is from the 95/5 Rye everyone knows. Definitely one to seek out of you're ever in PA. There's reason it keeps winning awards despite the Distillery being so young.
