While the main notes on this one are mostly sweeter notes (vanilla, caramel, etc) there is also a fresh citrus character on the back end, almost a zest, and even a bit of spice. It’s a bit uncharacteristic for Macallan as a whole, but the balance of fruits, sweetness, and wood is still as elite as you’d expect.
Maybe my least favorite of the edition series so far, but that’s far from an indictment. It’s simply my preference for the bolder, less sweet expressions from the iconic distillery.
