Sourced from Glenburgie Distillery Cask No. 1930212 Distilled in 2008; Bottled in 2023 Aged in ex-Oloroso sherry butt for 11 years Finished in ex-Sauternes wine barrique for 4 years Age - 15 years 56.9% abv; 113.8 proof Open 8 months Nose - Mixed berries and plum, rose petals, brown sugar, maple, cinnamon, nutmeg, heavy oak, and medium ethanol. Palate - Heavy malt, stewed dark fruits, coffee cake, melted rose, maple syrup, and baking spices. Finish is long with sweet oak, syrupy thick malt, overripe plums, honeycomb, and medium ethanol. This is my least favorite Murray McDavid Benchmark so far. It is too thick and sweet. I've had syrupy Scotch finished in Tawny port or PX casks, but this is on another level. It is so dark, it looks like iced tea. I think it works as a dessert drink, but you'd be hard-pressed to pour a second glass.
