French black raspberry liqueur from the Loire Valley. XO cognac infused with raspberry and blackberry flavors. 16.5% ABV. A gifted 50 cl mini bottle, tasting neat.
Purple black in the glass with strong coating legs. Nose is vanilla and rich fruit. On the palate, sweeeeeeet and thick, raspberries and currants in ethanol, vanilla, a little bite of citrus peel, herbal and a little baking spice at the back. Coating mouthfeel. Finish is fruity sweet, cloying and long, even a bit sour at the tail.
It's an elegant liqueur. You can drink this as an aperitif, but I prefer it mixed in a cocktail, or with champagne as a Kir Royale. That's what Im going to do with the rest of this mini.
