Nose - Honey, honeysuckle, wildflowers, butterscotch, toasted vanilla, saltwater, cocoa, light cinnamon, medium oak, and medium ethanol.
Palate - Velvety honey, molten flowers, creamy vanilla pudding, caramel, and barrel char. The palate is soft yet really flavorful. Finish is medium-long with creamy and delicate honey, sweet oak, barrel char, light gingerbread, and light ethanol.
The first time I tried this at The Party Source in Bellevue KY, I thought it wasn't very good and it was a waste of money. Their Nulu Honey Cask pick they had at the same time was orders of magnitude better. But this pick from my favorite Maryland stores is a different ballgame. Double barreled wheated is tricky to pull off. Very easy to over oak in my experience. That did not happen here. The bourbon and honey shine through. Really well done. It reminds me of heavily honeyed version of a Four Roses OES_ pick. I've tried multiple Old Commonwealth products this year and I am impressed despite their high prices.
