Davie-Warner
The Glenrothes 1998
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland

Oh my... The richest of the Glenrothes sampler I've compared, the whole chorus singing out in harmony! Nose opens with intense golden honey, sweet sherry, apple-blossom and Anjou pear. Petrichor like bright crepuscular rays bursting down into an ancient forest after a thunderous summer squall. Added water also seems to reveal something earthy and dark in the background, maybe freshly ground coffee? Palate is immediate, baking spices and zesty ginger. Pear returns for the finish along with buttery malt and a touch of humming sherry... An impressive showing, I'll be searching for a fifth of this. Dry glass: No thank you, pour me another.

Davie---absolutely, after six or seven drams of this single malt, sure---all three words. No guarantee on it making any sense though ;-)
Thanks gents, and Pranay, will you manage to use Sarsaparilla and Crepuscular in the same sentence? 😂
Agree with Scott, Davie's reviews are fun to read and educational!
Fortunately, I remember " Petrichor" from one of your other reviews. In fact, I even used it on a recent trip to Kerala..." the monsoons soon bring out this petrichor from the lush jungles". Hopefully I used it right, and not looked like a hill billy trying to blend in with the refined folks.
Thanks, Scott! You're both a gentleman and a scholar! Lol 😉
Every time I read your reviews I have to pull out the dictionary. Awesome. 'crepuscular'. Overall, I need to try this and find it. I sampled a Glenrothes but don't recall the vintage and recall it favorably. Now I will seek this out. Keep up the reviews, both positive and negative. And, keep that strong vocabulary. Good, fun review
