Watching Game of Thrones and...I think I found my go-to under-appreciated but high quality whiskey! This is my second Crown Royal. The first was the so-called best whiskey by that Panama hat wearing Jim Murray. I really enjoyed that one (Northern Harvest rye) namely for the surprise it gave me---I thought it would be horrible and it turned out really good. This one is better. By far. Nose is caramel and chocolate. But the taste is of rye backbone. Mint chocolate and caramel. Really enjoying this. Finish is long and smooth. For $55, you really can't do much better. Highly recommended, especially considering the value for money!!

I'll give that a try. As I'm blessed to live in Alaska there's no tax, but shipping is rather atrocious.
Adaminak: the Hand Select is definitely next on my list. I've limited myself to one purchase a month for less than $60, so May was Cornerstone. Now that it's June, it'll be Hand Select. Try doing a search on wine-searcher.com for the Cornerstone. If you order from a different state, you'll pay shipping but not the tax. Turns out be a few dollars more if not a net wash (depending on your tax...I'm in NJ, so quite high)
I'm waiting to find a bottle of this. Crown is really exploring new ground recently. I also completely agree with your assessment of the Northern Harvest Rye; it's good, but it's most definitely not the best in the world, nor the best in the world this year. Might I suggest you try the Hand Select Barrel? I was floored at how rich and full it is, and the only comparison I can make between it and the Northern Harvest is that they were both a huge surprise from Crown Royal.
