This feels like Bullett, like a strong Scottish whisky that burns, like a Jameson. The smell at the front is of that classic whisky smell, like any other cheap bourbon or classic American whiskey you can think of. BUT, the taste itself is pretty good - smooth, a tad fruity, not smoky. The roots of Suntory come out when you taste it. Unlike the Harmony, this actually has flavor, so even as a neat sip this is better than the Harmony. On top of that, it's very very enjoyable on the rocks. Honestly, this tastes the way you want it to - a good whiskey that's great on the rocks/keeps its flavor for a good price. Like the Johnny Walker Red, if you use it correctly it's fantastic. Win-win for the summer.
UPDATE: the longer it's on the rocks, the better. Summer classic. $55
Update: the longer it's on the rocks the worse it is. Honestly, not sure what I was thinking the first time I reviewed this. Maybe I was already drunk. I would say it tastes great neat, like a rookie version of the better Suntory whiskies. Sweet but not as sweet as Hibiki, not harsh, good for the money but not the best neat. The real surprise tho is how much I don't like it with ice. I bought a bottle for home, tried it with ice, thought the taste was all ethanol and no sweetness, and have basically turned my opinion around on it. So yea. Funny how that works.
