It's Friday, which means whiskey day! Yes---I have one dram only on Fridays and Sunday's. Rest of the days, it's green matcha tea. That math alone explains why I've built up 150 unopened bottles over 10 years...anyway...When I saw this on the shelf at the whiskey bar in NYC, I immediately ordered it. Paid $15 for it. I so much wanted to like this, and had high hopes just because of the Laphroaig pedigree. You ever immediately go watch a Scorsese film just because it's Scorsese? Most are great. Then there's a few that may end up as misses. This is one of those misses. The nose is like gym socks. And not in a good way. But those that just are way past due to be in the laundry. Normally I love the Laphroaig nose, but not this one. Taste is oranges and brine. Fruity, briny, smoky. Finish is sharp and bitter. Like what you'd expect eating an orange skin. I'm glad I tried it, just because I'm a huge Laphroaig fan, but not sure I'll be buying a bottle anytime soon.

@Deuce : so, that 150 was a high level estimate from one year ago. I actually did a full count this holiday week. It's more like 400 (plus or minus). Through 15-20 years of pile up. Finishing now a full inventory list. At my rate, it'll take me 2-3 lifetimes to finish 😊
I admire your discipline. I usually reserve at least three days a week to abstinence. That’s not saying much, lol. If I had 150 bottles calling my name it would be dangerous!
Update 12/31: I had a sample of this last night, thankfully from a friend who still had a bit left in his bottle. So I learned that there were two batches of this. Batch 1 was stellar, and a precursor to the amazing Cairdeas Portwood. Batch 2 was dismal, which is what I had months ago. Last night's was batch 1...simply well integrated medicinal herbs, tar, and smoke with a sweet underlying note from the port.
Wow Pranay, this review is a shocker. It's the first negative review I've seen on this bottle. I haven't tried it, but I'd like to. Hmm, now I am nervous. lol... Guess it might go to the bottom of the list since it's a pricey one.
Yeah---I do. Which is it takes me forever to finish a bottle
Wait, you drink only two drams a week?
Matt: I was really disappointed in this one. Always thought one can do no wrong with Laphroaig. Maybe I just had an old batch, or restaurant had this on the shelf sitting in sunlight. Who knows.
You convinced me with the gym socks analogy, not something I long to taste!
