Back when I was into my rums I really liked this one. So rich and full bodied. Worth twice the price of its 15 year sibling though? I thought not initially when i had tried them separately however once I tried them together and although I thought I didn't I really did prefer the 21 over the 15. It had a perfect balance and the alcohol burn came through as pure spice. Was 3rd favorite behind Zacapa XO and Diplomatico 2001 vintage

@Soba45 Interesting! I just assumed it was all super sweet. I like the underlying flavors, so I might have to check one of those out a my local rum bar. If it ever reopens...
@ContemplativeFox No worries. I should clarify. Diplomatica Reserva is as you know is hideously sweet. Their vintage expressions are a lot less e.g. 2001. Their 25 is definitely not sweet at all.
@Soba45 Thanks! It sounds like it's probabaly a bit sweeter than I'd ideally like, but is quite good, so might be worth it anyway. It's good to know that it's not as sweet as diplomatico since that would definitely be too much.
@ContemplativeFox It's the least sweet in their core range. Better than Diplomatico in terms of less sweet. It still is a sugary rum though. If you don't like sweet rums I'd hold off. $100 is a good price though. It is a quality drop I just have a feeling it'll be to sweet for you.
Hmm, contemplating getting this one for $100, but I'm worried that it might be too sweet. Diplomatico and Plantation XO are too sweet for me but others like Plantation Trinidad are just fine. Where would you say this lands? Is it syrupy?
