When you're called "Peat Monster," anything less than fulfilling that definition is going to be considered a letdown. And the peatiness is more middle of the road, similar to say a Talisker or Caol Ila. However, while it isn't a smoke bomb, this does have very strong, pleasant iodine and brine components, reminiscent of the mighty Lagavulin 16. There's a malty sweetness and depth I didn't expect. Very enjoyable.
