This is overpriced, but I'll grant that it's a fine whiskey, with some notes that don't usually happen in Old World single malts. There is aromatic cedar and sandalwood incense on the nose for me, along with tropical fruits and some herbal and woody notes. The palate is fruitier, with those tropical notes dancing alongside some coconut and dried fruit, with a bit of green grassiness. Interesting, complex, and unique.

I had a limited whiskey exchange edition sample which was ok. Have the soloist sherry to try which is meant to be the grand daddy but we'll see
Yeah, the Soloist ones are outrageous, especially the 4 wine ones ( manzanilla, amontillado, PX, and other one...I forget). I think I read some excuse as the casks being of superior quality, combined with a more than average loss in Angel's Share because of the tropical climate. I'm chalking it up to maximizing profits
I'm looking forward to finding and trying some Kavalan, but why are their high end whiskies so insanely expensive? The Soloist series is $500+, that's a ton for a young whiskey.
