Gold Rum — Maryland, USA

Greatly lacks the sweetness of a rum. It also possesses a VERY strong front end odor that is similar to tequilla or mezcal, not molasses or cane sugars. There is a flavor profile but most of it is lost under the nose of alcohol and 'agave'.
Should be much more sweet for an aged rum.

hello! this rum is not aged as much as it is rested in 3-gallon bourbon barrels, for a more reposada-like finish. you are correct in noting the robust almost agave notes, as we use both raw turbinado cane sugar + molasses in our fermentations, and distill in true pot stills for a aromatic and intense raw spirit. our signature dark rum is much richer and sweeter - this is definitely a dry, light, young rum.
