I can't believe I got away this long without ever having tried this. I have a bottle I bought years ago, but never got around to opening it. It's somewhere in my stash, probably. (this entire thing of having only two drams a week really slows down bottle consumption I guess). I feel as if this is one of the bedrocks of the modern whiskey world. Without this, we'd be missing a keystone foundation. It's like American football without the likes of Joe Montana, Lawrence Taylor, Tom Brady (Scott...forgive me...I know we're Giants fans), or Walter Payton. This has to be a bedrock in the same discussion as the Macallan 12, Ardbeg 10, Lagavulin 16, Glenlivet 12 and Glenfiddich 18. These are the bedrock whiskeys (in my opinion...but, it's up for debate). I had this sample most recently, graciously provided by Davie (thank you Davie!!). I don't know even know if I should bother describing the nose and palette...why bother. I'm going to just say " it's good...and go get some". Sort of the online blogging version of dropping the mic. ( Davie...again, thank you!).

@Davie: knee deep in holiday whiskey ;-)
Good grief, only saw this review today, where was I 2 weeks ago? 😂
@Howling: Yeah, I found the prices of these vary so much from state to state. And even more from country to country. Most expensive being Norway I think (outrageous alcohol tax), and one of the cheapest I've seen is Austria. I think US falls somewhere in between, with much more reasonable tax.
I WISH I could find it for $120. If I needed to replace my bottle it would set me back every bit of $150.
That entire "wish it were on the NYSE" got me curious...I looked up Diageo. Not a bad investment! In one year, it went up 16%, paying over 2.5% yield. I guess whiskey has been a good last year... (I just put in an options trade to buy it if it dips..which it should if the dollar gets higher)
Great non-review review, Pranay. Lol. I completely agree that this is one of the stalwarts of scotch whisky. If you haven't tried this heavenly juice yet, you shouldn't call yourself a seasoned scotch drinker. So, like Pranay said, if you haven't had this one yet, go get it. Don't worry about tasting notes, price point, etc. Go get some and you'll fully understand. Cheers.
Is it $120? My god. I think the bottle I have in my stash is from three years ago. Bought it for a palsy $80. If these whiskies were stocks listed on the NYSE or NSDQ, I'd have made a fortune.
You did mention LT so we, as Giants fans, are covered. More on topic, however, and in addition, it is reasonably priced and can be found for about $120.
