I had this last night, hoping to enjoy it over a Giants win on Packers. Unfortunately, the G-men decided not to show up after the half. Anyway---I love this color---not sure if it's natural or color added ( I thought though that Laphroaig is non-chill filtered and no coloring). You can clearly see the Madeira influence on the color. Nose---not crazy about it, but it does still hold the classic Laphroaig band aid medicinal. As much as I'm not a fan of the aroma, I think the palettte is simply amazing. The band aid aroma changes quickly to oak and fruits. I don't think I've had previous Cairdeas before, but now I'm curious to try other versions, especially the Port and Amontillado ones. Thanks to Davie for a generous sample!!

I really enjoyed the '13 Port and I have the '15 around here somewhere. I have to go back to my notes because I was gifted a 1oz pour of the '14 at my local watering hole back over the summer and don't really remember much about it. It's really cool that the Feis Isle festival bottles are truly experimented with by Laphroiag and most actually taste like they were finished far longer than they probably were. I guess it's a testament to how good the base whisky is.
@Modern: absolutely---will take you up on that (and will offer anything that fancies you from my open stash as well). I'm at [email protected]. We can trade details there
The 2014 Amontillado is the best, in my opinion, and I haven't forgotten that I have a bottle and a half of it left. Others rave about the 2013 Port but it didn't do much for me. Happy to trade samples on both. The 2015 is great too.
I think I have a bottle...not sure..need to double check. (Yes...I'll buy bottles, and forget I have them. I'll make a smooth transition into senility in my older days). If so, I need to give this a go...I loved the color and taste.
I originally purchased 2 bottles of this when it first hit the market and it wasn't until I had almost finished the first bottle that I began to truly appreciate it. The Madeira casks really didn't have much influence on the palate, I initially thought, but by the end of the bottle I was truly under its spell. I keep telling myself the second bottle is mothballed long term, but every time I catch a glimpse of the red and white colored tube in the back of the bar I want to reach for it and rip the cork from it. I stop and count to 10, gently place it back and close the cupboard door. Sigh.
