What else can be enumerated about HP18 that hasn't previously been thoroughly expounded? I set this fifth as a target near the end of my journey, only for it to illuminate that I'm still well in the beginning. Nose projects amiable Sherry, distant sea air, old leather, gentle woodsy smoke and petrichor (I'm in love already). Fresh palate, yet gentle and rich. A Hint of pleasant soapiness on arrival, then vanilla, sticky toffee and a discernible umami note. Recalls the memory of my dear grandmother's Baked apples (Nothing but cored, halved, a splash of apple juice and a scant dusting of cinnamon, warmed just to shriveling and browning at the edges...) The finish is long, with smooth light smoke flowing from oak through salted caramel. Simply put; a weathered old soul at the richest part of its life, sitting outside by a beautiful fire, beneath the stars, perfectly content with the world and itself. Dry glass: simple clean malted barley.

Spot on as usual Davie, I always look forward to your reviews and have purchased several bottles based on your comments and have yet to be disappointed!
My humblest thanks to you fine gentleman!
I'm due for another bottle. Cheers!
Well put. Wonderful whisky. Wonderful review!
*slow clap*
Davie---you've missed your calling as a poet. You should be charging these distilleries a fee. And of course, payment in liquid is fully acceptable.
Sounds heavenly. I'm working my way to this bottle. I have some inferior ones to get through first, but my prize is waiting for me
I'm submitting this review to the fine folks at Highland Park and requesting that they use it as the official description emblazoned on the bottle, on their website, in their print ads, wood burned onto the casks, engraved into their stills, chiseled onto the walls of the distillery, added to the Scottish Declaration of Arbroath.... You get my drift. An amazing review and a joy to read, as always. Cheers.
