As part of our little sample sharing team, this is my 2nd offering for round 2. For a 12 year old, I expected more. Granted, I didn't expect any ethereal life altering drink, but I did expect more out of something hailing from Speyside after 12 years of maturation in Sherry cask. This is like a Diet Coke with a fruit backbone. For the price I paid for this ( $40), it would've been better to take that money and use it for something like Compass Box Great King Street. Pass on this...not worth the money, or the hit on your liver. ( Lee, Scott, Paul, Ryan...going to apologize in advance...this one isn't up to par).

You were right, not much to this one. Btw, round one isn't officially over yet as quite a number of ratings are missing. Corryvreckan will probably take top billing if Ryan and Scott entered their marks
Cragganmore took the top billing in round 1. My gut tells me this one will be between the Lag and Macallan
Don't worry Lee, both the Lagavulin 8 and the Glenlivet Nadurra are good
That is beauty of the SDT: to sample and find the gems as well as weed out the weak offerings. In the end, I expect about a 60/40 good to "bad" ratio.
You guys better not let my Macallan 12 Double Cask win this round! Hahahaha
Paul: unfortunately, the Linkwood 20 isn't any better. But, hopefully the Balvenie will redeem both.
No worries, we are bound to have at least one or two duds in every round. I tried the Bowmore Gold Reef last night and it's not the greatest thing in the world either.
Slainte: I wasn't a huge fan of Chivas...makes sense now. I didn't realize this was a component there.
I always wanted to try Strathisla to compare it with Chivas Regal, where it's the lead malt. After your review, I am getting the impression Strathisla 12 wouldn't be much better than a Chivas 12?!
Thanks for the warning. Was on my to try list :-)
