Talisker 10 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland

When I think of coastal Scotland, it’s all about foggy, damp, mossy, pungent maritime air and Talisker manages to capture all of that in a bottle along with their signature smoky quality. A classic Scotch.
Rating: Wouldn’t dare mess with Distiller’s score since this is such a classic. But minus one star for adding color which seems so pointless. Cheers

Just had another pour of the good ‘ol Talisker 10. Have always thoroughly enjoyed this whisky but for some reason the added coloring drives me bonkers. Why Talisker why?
Ha, @Rick_M - your makeup analogy made me chuckle. Just feel that adding color is too artificial & like I said, seems pointless :)
@LeeEvolved, let me know when your site is up. All farces aside I think it would have millions of members!
@Rick_M - I just secured the domain rights to ILLOGICAL.com. I’m gonna start a review/support group where men post reviews of illogical things the women in their life do. It can be your wife, daughter, female boss, etc- it doesn’t matter. When they do something questionable the group will help you rationalize and deal with it. I think it’ll be highly successful...and entertaining. 😂
@cascode - i know. It’s only 10pm.
@cascode - in a few minutes I want you to tell me what May 9th is like. It’s never too early to get the news! :)
@cascide @LeeEvolved - i’ve got the perfect woman for Lee. She owns a distillery in Boston. :)
@Rick_M Oh cripes don't say that - next he'll be posting in-depth reviews of them!
@LeeEvolved - man, don’t you ever sleep? If you put this much passion into women you’d have a harem. :)
@Rick_M - I liked my wife more after she was gone. I guess that’s why I like it when I finish off another bottle- time to open a new one, lol.
@cascode - well my wife is all smoke and mirrors, and I must say.......the transformation is miraculous! :)
@Rick_M I married a woman who never wears makeup.
@SolanaRoots @cascode - do you love your wife more or less when she wears makeup? or does it really matter? :)
Colouring is really unfortunate baggage for whisky. I’d love to see the SWA embrace non-colouring, non-chillfiltration and 45% minimum abv for single malts. I don’t think this would work for blends, however.
PB & Scott - Completely agree. I find myself gravitating towards ‘au naturel’ offerings from the likes of Compass Box, Springbank, etc
For that matter, why does any single malt? Totally agree.
Always surprises me why Talisker needs to color. They'd be equally fine w/o it
