Liquor Master store pick. 9 yr age statement.
Poured neat in shot glass. Smells like bourbon.
Strong caramel/butterscotch, then nuts and peanut butter. Delicious.
ABC pick Barrel 4743
9 year (NAS)
Neat in snifter. First pour on freshly opened bottle.
Nose
Initially, caramel, vanilla, leather, and oak.
After 12ish minute rest, not a lot of change. Deceptive, curious to see how it opens up with som oxidizing.
Add water and it smells of oak, leather, peanuts, caramel, vanilla.
Palate
Sweet fruit like raspberry on the front.
Leather, caramel, vanilla, stale peanuts. Touch of oak.
Add water and it sweetens. Caramel, vanilla, pepper/spice, oak
Finish
Black pepper
Clove? Or proof numbing the mouth.
Lingering oak
Neat in Glencairn. Opened bottle.
Nose
Rested 15+
Sweet oak, roasted/stake peanut beam funk, caramel, toffee, vanilla. A bit of dark fruit after some swirls.
Taste
Dark fruit, dry leather and oak, caramel and vanilla, barrel spice
Finish
Oak fades out
Mingles with tannin tingling
And barrel char spice
Overall
Not my favorite KCSiB, but this will always be on the shelf. Delicious with a Beam punch
