Tomatin 18 Year Oloroso Sherry Casks
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed

Once upon a time the biggest distillery in Scotland was located in the Highlands with 23 running stills. Although these times are long gone, Tomatin is a name worth remembering. A bit innocent at first, the nose is fruity and creamy with honey, sweet cherries and whiffs of wood smoke. Cloves, raisins and cocoa indicate noticeable sherry influence. On the palate, the oak is taking over with lemon zest, blood oranges and strong notes of dark chocolate. The finish is easy and flawless. Altogether, Tomatin 18 is a solid single malt but missing that little extra.

Sweet I've a sample on its way off the back of your review :-)
Great review, Slainte! I picked up a bottle of this one locally not long ago. I'm glad it's getting solid, positive reviews. Tomatin is one of those "under the radar" distilleries to me and I've yet to be disappointed with anything I've had and you can't beat the price point. Cu Bocan was a little hidden gem IMO. Cheers.
The miniatures I tasted and reviewed were of that old style as well. Based on other reviews I read, there are no big differences between the two: it's just a new packaging.
I grabbed a bottle a while ago, the older style bottle not the new squat ones. Once this distillery tour is over I'll get around to it. Sounds like it's a good buy from your review
