Thanks to my friend Lee, as part of our Scottish distillery sampling team, I got to try this peaty Highlander. Till this evening, I don't think I ever even heard of Ancnoc ( how the hell do you pronounce that? A-Knock?). This is a mini-me version of a young Caol Ila, minus any salinity or briny elements. Peat hits you right away, with a hefty dose of citrus, and a short sharp finish with a bit of earthy aftertaste. Not bad. This is something I'd like to have on a cold rainy night. It may not be earth shattering, but it's a solid middle of the pack peaty whisky. Thanks Lee!

@ PB- yeah, those extras are tough to outdo with the lower budgets set for the official samples. I'm looking forward to the Kelpie vs Committee Kelpie showdown myself...
Lee: I think this round might go to the bonus samples. The EH Four Grain stole the show
Drats. Only 3 stars. I had pretty high hopes for this one to be one of the highlights for this round of samples. So far, Tamdhu was the hit for me but I still have quite a few to go. Nice review, Pranay. Cheers.
The Scottish rep who poured me a sample of their 12 year at a tasting said it ah-KNOCK, with a very strong emphasis on the second syllable.
