Ardnamurchan Spirit 2017 AD
Spirit — Highland, Scotland

2017 AD marks the 2nd release from the Ardnamurchan distillery's spirit series, selected from a mix of peated and unpeated spirits matured in 130 55 litre sherry octaves that matured on the upper floor of their warehousing, then married in ex-Pedro Ximénez casks for an extra four months. It's such a great dram for only 2 years old. I got fermented cabbage on the nose and the palate was truely multi-faceted. Sherry, nuts, smoke, nutmeg, sultanas, and much much more going on. Around $80USD and worth it. I really need to get a bottle!

@Soba45 seems like only bitcoin and Ardnamurchan figured out how to use blockchain ☺️
@PBMichiganWolverine Ah interesting. I've been wondering when I'd first bump into the application of this technology in real life...who knew if I bought a bottle of this it would be whisky which should be the connection!
@Soba45 @LeeEvolved fun fact: this is the only distillery so far that uses blockchain technology. So it means you can scan a code on the bottle and know exactly which barley field, who bottled it, etc—-in essence the entire supply chain from farm to your purchase. Down the line, this would help against counterfeiting
@Soba45 Tried this spirit as well - excellent stuff!
@Soba45 - that is very odd. If they have something 3.5 years old you’d think they are ready to capitalize on the whisky designation. I guess they are making plenty of money regardless of calling it whisky. Perhaps that doesn’t bode well for the 3.5 year old stock then- if they have to add younger spirit in. Interesting.
@LeeEvolved Hope it's good. It's on my list to try. Usually I find the 50 litre barrel turbo charged aging to not be a great experience but they did well with the 2nd Edition. Interesting I thought 1st was 1 yr aged, 2nd 2 etc but no. The 3rd release is a mixture of 1 yr and 3.5 yr which is why they still can't call it whiskey. I have no idea why they do this? Maximise sales volume I guess but it's a bit robbing peter to pay paul as they have less stock down the track. Reviews seem good for 3rd Release (bearing in mind it's age of course)
Very cool. I just ordered a bottle of the 2018 AD No 3, which I’m assuming is 3yo and finally technically a whisky. Looking forward to opening this and sharing with the distillery group we formed a couple of years ago.
