I knew I should've kept away from experimenting with gin. Should've stuck to whisky. Now I find myself liking whisky, Mezcal, and gin. I didn't need one more. So--on to the review for this beauty. I love the nose: crisp and pine-y. Feels as if you're breathing the Oregon North Pacific forest air (yes, I know this is from Islay). Taste is even better. The forest pine trees play in the background, with the forefront dominated by floral and citrus taste. I've not had many gins, but out of the ones I've had, this is probably the best. Really a great buy at $35 (w/o tax)

@On_The_Moors It's OK in a martini, although personally I prefer a more full-flavoured gin for that purpose. This really shines in a gimlet or negroni where the crispness balances out the sweet components.
@On_The_Moors no, just over ice. I tend to not like any mixed drinks, not sure why
I’m a big gin martini fan and finally snagged a bottle of this. Great review—can’t wait to crack it open! You made a martini with this stuff?
Yeah it's weird I've tried a lot of straight gin including this one and I just can't get into it. Mixed right it can be nice but straight just hasn't done it for me. I started on rum but now most are way to sweet. Tequila and others have been hit and miss....I just always long for a good whisky whenever I'm drinking any other spirit :-)
Jack: yeah...it was that Bluecoat you sent that got me all started. Then Paul's Michigan one.
Yeah...I tried Rum, as well as tequila. Never seemed to find a liking towards it. Whiskey, red wine, Mezcal, gin...in that order and depending on the circumstances
There are all kinds of good things to try out there. It’s good to be multidimensional
@Lee: yeah, my first gin ( not that I'm a seasoned veteran...basically only have had 3-4 ), I thought the same thing. I then really started appreciating the pine forest aroma. The ones where the juniper is in the background had less less pine-y taste and more herbal or floral
I just drank Paul’s gin sample this morning. I think that is the first gin I’ve ever had. I wasn’t sure what to make of it, honestly. The pine cones and Christmas-y feel were a bit weird, but it was incredibly smooth.
I just noticed how cool the bottle is as well, with all 22 botanicals in their latin names etched into.
Need to look up Plymouth. Absolutely loved this one.
Along with Plymouth, this is my favorite gin. Great review!
