Lapsang souchong is literally the first note I get from this.. or a light version of it at least. White grape, vanilla, honey, yep, all the speyside goodness. The palate is where I get the sherry notes and slight peat smoke. I'll be honest, the first dram of this yesterday did not appeal much to me, but now on the second day, it's MUCH better. Maybe that's a sign that oxidation helps this glass. This is a base core offering, and a great one. No water needed, and the finish reminds me of orange peel/marmalade with candied sugar. A nice medium mouth coat. 3.75, and thanks Paul for the chance to admire it. The song for this dram is "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds.

Yeah, kind of an earthy tea. This maybe be on the more Southern sweeter end than lapsang, but it's a heavy tea note none the less.
Lapsang souchong, huh - OK, I'm hooked. Cardhu is one of the whiskies I inevitably glance at but then pass by when choosing a new malt to try but we've now reached critical mass of good reviews by trusted palates. I see a bottle in my future ...
I was really drinkable, often. This one overlooked well. Flavor quietly solid. As good, very surprised too. Really made a profile. ** I basically wanted to say the same things that Paul, Pranay and Scott said so I just quoted them, dyslexically.
Quietly good. Often overlooked.
I was really surprised by this one as well. Really well made
I was surprised by this one too. Very drinkable and a solid flavor profile
