Aged Rum — Guatemala

Day 12. Today we got one of the heavy hitters. The name Zacapa is legendary amongst rum lovers, and for a good reason it seems. On the nose you get brown sugar, together with vanilla, cinnamon, a dash of pepper and that sweet pipe tobacco smell. The taste begins similar with roasted brown sugar, vanilla, some coconut, a lot of chocolate notes ranging from milk to dark chocolate, and some spices that give it a bit of oomph. The aftertaste stays for quite a while, leaving the taste of tobacco, some pineapples and chocolate on your tongue and your thoughts. An excellent rum for people that like it a bit sweeter.

15% off sounds like good deal. Rum is perfect for hot weather, as is a nice strong bourbon with some ice. I still prefer our -6°C we currently got though. I hate heat^^
It was one of those confluence moments, your review, finding it on 15% off special ... It's been 32 degrees celsius+ in Sydney lately, and ramping up for a torrid Christmas, hence my attention to rums and bourbon recently instead of my beloved whisky.
@cascode Glad you like it. Zacapa rarely disappoints. Just got a bottle for my uncle for christmas, and mine is currently being shipped (together with 40 master of malt samples, a bottle elephant sloe gin and a bottle of Laphroaig Lore...got my work cut out for me it seem ;) ) Looking forward to your review :)
@Reverend45 A big thank-you for attracting my attention to this. Yummy. Review coming soon.
Thanks. It is surprisingly good really. Usually when something has this much hype behind it, it's either damn good, or has good marketing. This is the former.
Nice review! Looking forward to opening my 1 litre bottle now :)
Sounds wonderful
