Kilchoman Machir Bay (2016 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

Day 21. The last scotch. Now I only got 1 rum and 2 bourbons left. Today, we got one of the "unspeakable" scotches. Disclaimer, not 100% certain if it is the 2016 since there is no year on the bottle, but process of elimination tells me it is. On the nose you get some nice smoke, togehter with malty balrey notes, some citrus and peppery honey. Somewhat reminds me of the Laphroaig 10 but...not quite as good. The taste is light honey with smoked peacehs, some pepper and briney, salty notes all over it. A little bit on the thin side for my taste...almost as if you put half a shot of water in there. Not fun. The notes are all enjoyable, but feel watered down for some reason. The aftertaste is salty smoke and and doesn't stay for very long. Not a bad scotch by anyones definition, just not really my taste.

On the bottle yes, but I never got a bottle, just got one of those 3cl samples from Master of Malt. And they only print the name on their label.
There should be a bottling date printed on the back (of the bottle itself). Took me a while to find too :)
I thought their original cask strength was pretty kick ass too, and I will echo the others.
Yip Sanaig, Red wine, Loch Gorm in roughly that order. I was quite disappointed with the 10th Anniversary and Machir bay I'm yet to try but have a sample waiting.
Yes, Sanaig and Loch Gorm are where Kilchoman gets it right. Their distillate needs to be wrapped in sherry or hefty smoke, otherwise it’s too young and raw.
I'll add it to my list. In my last order I got yesterday I have a sample of the red wine cask matured 2012. That's supposed to be pretty good as well.
The Sanaig was much better. You should give that one a go
That probably works with a full bottle, I just got the 3cl sample from Master of Malt, und on their page they don't have a date on the bottle I chose. But since every other year was "discontinued", I guess this might be 2016
If you want to tell what year it is (I had this struggle as well), look at the bottom of the side of the bottle. Somewhere on the side lower than the label (and not on the label, directly on the glass) there are small black letters that will say a date, which I believe is the bottling date (kind of like the codes on Ardbeg bottles).
