Wow, what a fantastic scotch whisky! Rich and complex.
The nose sets up a boutique of pear, red fruits, lemon zest, vanilla, a touch of ocean brine and peat smoke, and more still to be uncovered!
The mouth is soft, layered and inviting. The fruits really stand out here but don’t steal the show from the layers of spices. They all comes together nicely for a long and balanced finish. This is a single malt you don’t just drink, you explore.
No coloring, no chill-filtering and 46%abv, this is a standout 10 yr scotch made the old world way.
A nearly perfect dram. Cheers, Springbank.
Got a bottle for $66 with tax in DC. Buy yourself one next time you’re shopping.

Great review. After having your bottle open a few months has your impression changed at all?
I’ll certainly see if I can swing it. It would be great to meet you all, not only because of how fun it would be but I imagine I could learn quite a bit about scotch from y’all malt heads. :)
Our shows don't get cancelled, but it's a succes when all five of us turn up on the same day. Nah, just kidding - but they are much smaller and more low-key events than the US meets.
The Springbank 10 is a solid one that is one of my benchmarks. On another note, definitely consider coming to the show in DC. A lot of us are going.
@On_The_Moors - DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! I hear there’s gonna be a massive bottle share in @Generously_Paul ‘s room the night before. We’re talking rare 30+ year old scotches AND an appearance by an internet celebrity or two.
Funny you mention it, I wash just looking at tickets today! Not sure I can swing it given the price but I’ll surely let you all know. Cheers!
I’ve had a bottle of this sitting unopened in my ever growing collection for over a year. Someday I’ll open it and discover the goodness contained within. BTW, since you live in the DC area, any chance you’ll be attending the 2018 DC WhiskyFest in April? Myself, @LeeEvolved and @Telex will be there
