My home bar was in dire need of a cheap mixer so I snagged up a bottle of this for $24 in DC (came with 2 tumblers, too!). As someone with limited experience with Beam over the past decade. I figured the abv and spice (according to distiller) would do nicely in an old-fashioned cocktail and maybe even enjoyable neat.
The nose is heavy on sweet corn, caramel and punch of vanilla which for me triggered the feeling I’d struck bargain basement gold, but sadly it’s downhill after that. A thin and pedestrian mouth awaited and is bookended with a quick, hot, oaky spice but ultimately flat, blah finish.
As far as being a mixer goes, so far so goodish, but I feel a ping of regret for not just getting Turkey 101 as planned. Alas, my rabid search for a bottom shelf but respectable utility mixer continues. Free glasses though! ;)

I also found the nose on this one to be great, only to be let down by the flavor profile. It's just alright. I will echo @Generously_Paul and recommend the EW BIB. In my control state it goes for around $16. La Cheeserie.
@Reverend45 the “jury” is still out on this, but I found it troubling enough to shy away from their stuff until more details emerge: https://www.forbes.com/sites/taranurin/2017/08/02/negotiating-her-departure-terms-a-gay-bulleit-whiskey-heiress-says-she-was-fired-for-coming-out/amp/
Yeah, their bourbon is around $25, but honestly I have some issues with their business practices so I avoid buying their stuff. I’m actually thinking maybe Evan Williams Black Label is my next mix tester.
I hear EW White Label BiB is a great cheap mixer. Their Black Label is decent for mixing and about $2-5 cheaper than the white
