Rutte Celery Gin

Flavored Gin — Netherlands

The good thing from having a day working from home is a 3pm drink. Sitting here in jeans and a tshirt while having a wee bit of gin isn't the ideal picture of a Fortune 300 executive, but heck...still getting my work done. And in a much more chipper mood too at that. So I opened up one of my "unique enough that I'd love to try, but sure as fuck not paying for a full bottle " samples. Ok so, I love celery. In fact, in my previous life, I was probably a hot bikini model that only lived on.celery. Ok. Maybe not. Anyway, this is an interesting drink. It's got the traditional dry juniper and coriander flavor, but with a slight celery flavor in the forefront. Emphasis on "slight". Not enough. If I were poured this blind, I'd not have guessed it had celery. So...not enough to distinguish it from any other dry gin. Interesting, but nothing special.

One of the joys of my work is that I set my own hours...before parenthood came knocking, I would fairly often go hole up at one of my favorite watering holes for a dram or two while I read or worked on my sermon. The best times were when I did so in my clerical collar...let's just say most bartenders aren't used to slinging drinks for clergy at 2 in the afternoon.

@Rick_M yeah... after re-reading this, I’m kinda disturbed by the visuals too...

Good review except for the visuals. :)

Lol, my strange work schedule allows me to enjoy a nip at some weird hours as well. There’s nothing like getting off of work at 8am and sliding into the local quick mart and grabbing a six pack while everyone else is getting coffee and a biscuit. Oh, the looks I get sometimes... They just don’t understand- Happy Hour is when you finish work for the day.

Like the days of Madmen. Doesn’t happen often enough unfortunately

How much easier life would be if we could all have a 3 pm dram. Cheers to living the life
