I love the nose. It’s sweet and no hint of grain or alcohol. It’s clean . . . corn, vanilla, slight cinnamon. On the palate not as good, but not disappointing. A little thin on first impression. But, if you give it a chance it opens up to a quality Bourbon with everything you would want. A mix of great sweet and spice flavors and background of quality wood. No bitter or off putting finishes. A fairly complex and lingering finish. Home run for a bourbon you can get for 30.00 at Walmart.

We have liquor available in many grocery stores here in Michigan as well. Not all get a license, even within the same chain. Our minimum prices are set by the state so you can’t get deals anywhere which is a real bummer.
Weird state laws, I tell ya. It’s state run here in Virginia. You can only buy it in state run stores. My dad lives in West Virginia and it’s sold in every CVS pharmacy in the state. So, it’s medicinal...
@deuce26 that’s great, I’m sure you get better prices for the common stuff from Walmart. Here in NJ, the state doesn’t allow the mass retailers to sell it. In the name of keeping smaller competitors alive
@PBMichiganWolverine, yep Walmart and most grocery stores have the basic mass produced liquor in Louisiana and, in my case, greater New Orleans. I have to head to the specialty liquor stores for the more hard to find boutique selections.
@PBMichiganWolverine Some states can sell liquor in grocery stores. Even more of them can sell wine though (parts of Tennessee were late to that party). I've seen very cheap Laphroaig in a CA Trader Joe's, for example. Makes me want to move sometimes...
@deuce26 wait...you guys have wine and spirits in Walmart???!
@WhiskyWitch, a perk of living in Southern Louisiana!
I really liked the single barrel (not usually much of a bourbon drinker), and have been wanting to try this. I wish they made it in tiny bottles. (I also wish my Walmart sold liquor...)
