Dinner out, and bought myself a pour. At $8 /pour, a pretty good value for money. This is surprisingly so very different than the 10. I expected a difference of course, but this is nothing derived from the likes of the 10. The earthy soot is replaced by more of a sweeter floral profile with just a wisp of smoke. Tasted blind, I’d peg this for a Speysider. One of my favorite distilleries; can’t ever go wrong with a Springbank. Just a question of whether it’s good or excellent.

@Rabbit_in_Red Definitely excellent!
Did you decide if this was good or excellent? About to grab one of these I think
It's the distillery for Redbreast, Powers, Middleton, The spot range brands e.g. Yellow and all the bog standard stuff e.g. Jamesons
@Soba45 out of that list, I don’t think I’ve tried Midleton. I’ve read their annual Very Rares are awesome, as well as their Dair Galech ( Irish wood?)
Yup I looked at my Springbank and Hazelburn reviews and nothing rated below a 4 so far. No other distillery has that distinction even the rest of my favorites. Definitely in my top several bottlers or distilleries which are in no particular order - Kilchoman, Springbank/Hazelburn, Middleton, Laphroaig, Glendronach, Compass Box, Talisker :-)
