I was just reading somewhere the oak is very hard to come by and obviously protected. it has some weird high-moisture properties and very thin logs so you dont even get a ton of staves. oh, and, it has to be aged something obscene like 100-200 years before harvesting because of protections and something to do with ideal specimens for moisture content. the barrels themselves it said are like $6-12k. I can imagine them being even more these days.
@Kyle-Brady - I bought a bottle of this when it first hit the market. With only 2000 total bottles and just 500 for the North American market I can see it going up higher way down the road.
how about from a collection purpose - possibly a bit more unique and sought-after than those Japanese you mentioned? I could see this being worth $10k in the reasonably-distant future.
