One of the biggest benefits of being part of this madhouse of a Scottish distillery tour that my friend @LeeEvolved conjured up is that you get to try a distillery that you wouldn’t even know existed. This one here, part of an official, offering from @LeeEvolved, is one that I never even heard of. I say ‘official’ offering because in the team, we provide ‘unofficial’ or ‘bonus’ offerings as well. Honestly, it’s the bonus offerings that steal the show, and this round will be no different where I think the top scores will go to a Macallan Black, Springbank 24 single sherry cask, and a Four Roses LESB 2016. Anyway...I digress...so, this here...I don’t know...not fond of the nose. A bit rancid and plastic-y. Maybe because I just had a pretty good Alt-a-Bhainne (also provided by @LeeEvolved ). It’s like driving an Accord after you’ve just drove an Acura. Palette is lemongrass, confectioners sugar. Quick drying finish. It’s decent. But for about $80, you’re better off elsewhere. Again, a first for me in trying a new distillery—-thanks @LeeEvolved !

Oh and I had the 10yr GM Glenburgie last week and was ok. Nothing special but not bad. I contacted Mikael about loading a bunch of stuff not on the site and he informed me that soon they will release a beta to a number of us to test out creating our own listings in Distiller. Finally!
Congrats guys. You inspired me to draw up a list of how many active (for more than a couple of years) distilleries I still have to try. 30 more to go. Hopefully dramfest with a few hundred whiskies on offer this coming weekend I can tick a few more off.
Yeah, there’s some value in that. I just think that the way the industry is exploding we’re going to be seeing 8-10 new distilleries every year from now until it inevitably crashes. And just like my craft beer experiences- I can only handle so much BS product at premium prices before I throw in the towel and move on. So, yeah we will have tried something from every place, but in 2-3 years we’ll have to return to this to keep the list up to date, and I think there’ll be some really bad whisky out there and I’ll lose interest really quickly. I hope that doesn’t happen, but I’ve seen it with too many other hobbies, lol.
Yeah...but we five will have sampled a dram from every Scottish active distillery. That’s amazing. One to check mark off my bucket list
I thought this one was fine, if nothing special. I got mostly traditional bourbon notes and it was really smooth. I was mostly bored. That’s actually what I hate taking away from this experiment the most- if we get a bad bottle, that’s one thing. I’d like to at least get a decent impression of the distillery so maybe I’d be interested in exploring another bottle, older or even NAS. When they leave me bored I feel like there was no reason to even try a particular distillery. That truly sucks IMO.
