Erogers100

Smooth Ambler Contradiction

Bourbon — USA

Reviewed April 7, 2018 (edited August 13, 2018)
4.0
4.0 out of 5 stars
Nice, thick sticky legs in the glass. Nose: Hint of white chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, and an earthiness like wet rocks. A little ethanol. Palate: medium heat with sweetness on the front end, with the earthiness of the nose carrying through. Full mouthfeel. Finish: medium-long and spicy, with some oak barrel influence. When breathing out through the nose, a hint of something subtly vegetal, but cannot place it. Good dram. Worthy of four stars.

Thanks, Lee. I enjoyed reading your review of the Old Scout 10-yr cask strength. Will be looking for a bottle.

This is a pretty good in-house blend. Their small distillery is located a few miles from my father’s house in West Virginia. Sadly, I think a majority of their stock is from MGP in Indiana. They do have a nice experimental selection at the distillery, though. Great review. Cheers.
